Young Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy stunned one and all by taking two big wickets in just one over in the ongoing third Test against England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. In only his second over of Day 1, Nitish Kumar Reddy shocked everyone, including Rishabh Pant, with back-to-back dismissals of England’s openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley.
Reddy got the batter of Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in the 14th over of the innings. First, it was Duckett who fell to an easy ball down the leg side. The delivery was a short ball drifting down the leg side and was not dangerous at all, but Duckett went for a pull shot, looking to add another boundary to his kitty. But the England opener didn’t connect well and ended up gloving the ball.

The Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant didn’t make a mistake and took a simple catch, with the umpire raising his finger right away, and Duckett walked out for 23 off 40 balls. But Reddy wasn’t done. Just a few balls later, he gave India another crucial breakthrough at Lord’s.

Now, it was Crawley’s turn. The delivery was perfect. It pitched in that tricky area just outside off-stump, and the English opener was forced to play at it. The ball moved slightly after pitching, took the edge of his glove, and went straight to Pant behind the stumps.
The wicketkeeper took an easy catch to end Crawley’s stay as he walked off after scoring 18 runs from 43 balls. It was smart captaincy by Shubman Gill to bring Nitish into the attack early, and the young bowler delivered in style with two big wickets within just four balls.

Shubman Gill’s missed catch denies Nitish Kumar Reddy a dream over at Lord’s
Even the Indian all-rounder had almost removed Ollie Pope in the 14th over. Nitish bowled a full delivery with a wobble seam well outside off stump, and Pope went for a drive far from his body. The ball flew towards the gully, where Shubman Gill made a full-length dive to his right.

The Indian captain got a hand on the ball but couldn’t hold on, and the ball dropped to the ground. It was a tough chance, but Reddy might have gotten his third wicket if Gill had gone with both hands. The young skipper looked frustrated as he held his head, as he missed the big opportunity.
England struggle at 83/2 against India before lunch
Well, before the lunch break, England reached 83 for the loss of two in 25 overs, and the efforts from the Indian bowlers, especially Reddy, were impressive. The young Indian bowler has impressed everyone by getting the most swing and seam movement on average in the ongoing Lord’s Test.
Nitish’s deliveries are moving more in the air and off the pitch compared to any other bowler, making him a serious threat to the England batters in the ongoing third Test at Lord’s. Notably, batting at Lord’s on the first morning of a Test hasn’t been easy since 2022, averaging under 20 runs per batter.
