India National Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir looked in a joyous mood ahead of the start of the ongoing third T20I against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The match between the teams is underway at the Pallekele International Stadium in Pallekele.

The start of the game between India and Sri Lanka got delayed due to the rain. The players of both teams were seen having light moments on the field, and one such came from the head coach of India, Gautam Gambhir, and captain, Suryakumar Yadav.

Just ahead of the toss, Gautam Gambhir was seen having a fun moment with Suryakumar Yadav. The head coach of the team was seen smiling with the captain as the duo were seen sharing something. The video of the incident went viral on the internet:

Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav share great camaraderie between them. The duo have been together since the early days at Kolkata Knight Riders. While the current head coach was the captain of the franchise, Suryakumar was the vice-captain of the team.

It was also reported that it was Gautam Gambhir who suggested Suryakumar Yadav's name for the captain of the Indian T20I team. The batter was preferred over Hardik Pandya, who was vice-captain of the team in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir have started their tenure on high. India National Cricket Team has already won the three-match T20I series. They won the first two games and took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.

India was top-notch with the bat and ball in the first T20I. They posted 213 runs on the board while batting first and then were tremendous with the ball, winning the game by 43 runs. In the second game, they restricted Sri Lanka to 161 runs and then chased the revised target of 78 in 8 overs in 6.3 overs.

India National Cricket Team struggled to get going with the bat in the ongoing third T20I. They had a terrible outing with the bat as Sri Lanka National Cricket Team bowlers were all over the opposition and didn't let the batters settle at all.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) was the first wicket to fall after that India lost wickets early. They were reeling at 48/5. Shubman Gill (39) and Riyan Parag (26) played vital hands for the team and bailed them out of trouble with their 54-run partnership.

In the end, Washington Sundar scored a crucial 25 runs as India posted a total of just 137 runs. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged three wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga also picked two scalps. India now would be hoping to keep things tight with the ball and complete the whitewash. On the other hand, Sri Lanka would be desperate for the win and would want to avoid the whitewash.
