Veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin looked in a furious mood during the Eliminator of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 between Dindigul Dragons and Chepauk Super Gillies. The match between the teams took place on Wednesday (31st August) at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul.

Ravichandran Ashwin was one of the major factors behind the win of the Dindigul Dragons in the Eliminator of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. The veteran Indian off-spinner led from the front against Chepauk Super Gillies and made sure he took his team to the next stage of the tournament.

The all-rounder was at his furious best as well and was keen to win the game. This was quite evident when he got furious at his teammate during the chase and was fuming while sitting in the dugout after the player from his team didn't give him all while running.

During the 16th over of the chase, Dindigul Dragons' Shivam Singh and C Sarath Kumar were in the middle. On 2nd ball, Kumar played a poor shot but was fortunately dropped by the fielder. This made Ravichandran Ashwin upset, who was sitting in the dugout just near the boundary ropes.

Ravichandran Ashwin furious got up from his was and was seen scolding his teammate. He even threatened to his teammate. This video has gone viral on social media with many praising the off-spinner for his intensity even though it wasn't a big stage match.

Ravichandran Ashwin played a vital innings for his team. The off-spinner promoted himself and walked out to bat at No.3. He slammed a magnificent half-century and ended with an innings of 57 runs off 35 balls. The all-rounder batted with a strike rate of over 162 and also slammed 4 fours and 4 sixes in his innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin added 101 runs in partnership with Shivam Singh (64). Their sensational partnership took Dindigul Dragons close to the win before contributions from C Sarath Kumar (12), and Suboth Bhati (14*) took the team home with 4 wickets and on the second last ball.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who won Player of the Match for his heroics, admitted that it wasn't a perfect game for them but they did well to close the game. He said that as an international player, it was his responsibility to do well and they are keen to do well in the next games. Speaking after the game, he explained:

"Pressure does these things (on the near collapse), we'll have to have a chat, but the important thing was we closed the game. It was an imperfect game, despite our shoddy bowling and fielding, we kept them down to a low score.

"As an international and IPL player, the responsibility was with me to do well (with the bat). We haven't played the perfect game, but hopefullywe'll do well in the coming games. Thankful for the crowd for having turned up."
