Taskin Ahmed removes Ashwin with a slower delivery

Bowling at 116 kph, Taskin delivered a slower ball pitched full outside off. Ashwin attempted a ruthless drive but only managed to clip it off the lower edge of the bat.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was stationed at deep midfield, tracked the ball easily and completed a clean catch to help Taskin get his third wicket in the match in Chennai.

Ashwin's well-deserved knock of 113 runs off 133 balls included 11 fours and 2 sixes, leaving a significant mark on the ongoing first Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai.

His century played a crucial role in stabilizing India's innings after early setbacks against Bangladesh. The Indian off-spinner also added 199 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (86) to help Team India post 376 runs on the board in the first innings against Bangladesh in Chennai on Day 2.

Cricket is a game that I totally adore: Ashwin

Apart from Ashwin and Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal also contributed 56 runs in India’s challenging total on the board. After the end of Day 1, Ashwin stated, “Excitement and ambition always remain the same when I take the field. Cricket is a game that I totally adore. I have enjoyed every single moment that I have been on the field.

Age is a number, but the kind of work you stack up over a period of time to get out there in the park and have the best energy levels to be able to persevere and keep going... definitely takes a toll over a period of time. You need to work harder to get that little bit of an advantage.”

Notably, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah removed Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam for just 2 runs to hand the hosts first wicket in the first over. Zakir Hasan and Shanto are currently batting at 3 and 15, respectively, as India continues to maintain the pressure on Bangladesh in Chennai.
