Riyan Parag’s struggle continued in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, as India A yet again found itself in trouble against India C in the 6th game of the tournament at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Saturday, September 21.

Parag is yet to play a significant knock at any level since his heroics in the IPL 2024 with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). His memorable performance in the IPL 2024 earned him the maiden India call-up, and the Assam all-rounder was given chances on the Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe tour, but he failed to leave a mark with the bat.

Now, the talented batter has found himself in scrutiny, as he is yet to play some impactful innings in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. After failing to score in the first innings in the ongoing 6th Duleep Trophy 2024 game, Parag was determined to make up in the second innings and was on the road for a hundred against India C.

However, India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had a different plan for the dangerous-looking Parag. Gaikwad pulled off a blinder to send the India A batter back to the pavilion in frustration in Anantapur on Saturday.

As Gaurav Yadav delivered a slower ball, Parag came out of his crease and played a powerful shot in front. However, the bowl didn’t have that pace, and Gaikwad made an incredible leap to his left, plucking the ball mid-air to complete a one-handed splendid catch, which ensured the departure of the well-set Parag.

Watch here Gaikwad's incredible efforts to remove Parag:

Before the India C captain’s amazing efforts, Parag was on his way to a century, having already scored 73 runs off 101 balls laced with five fours and a six in the ongoing match. If it weren't for Gaikwad's outstanding effort, Parag would have secured his fourth first-class hundred.

It was the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain’s third catch in the second innings of India A in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India C in Anantapur. Earlier, Gaikwad took the catches of Partham Singh (11) and Tilak Verma (19) in the match, but Parag would have certainly felt bad for the shot.

However, India A is still leading by 330+ scores against India C, thanks to Shashwat Rawan and Parag’s fifty in the game. Currently, India A’s score reads 270/6, leading by 333 runs against India C in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match in Anantapur.

Anshul Kamboj, Gaurav Yadav, and Manav Suthar have all scalped two wickets each for India C so far in the game against India A. Earlier, India C bowled out for 234 runs after India A posted 297 runs on the board in their first inning.

For India C, Abhishek Porel was the highest run scorer in the first inning with 82 runs off 113 balls in the ongoing first-class game. Pulkit Narang also made the valuable contribution of 41 runs, while captain Gaikwad was caught out for just 17 runs off 20 balls against India A.
