However, at the last moment, he decided against it, leaving everyone a bit puzzled.
Shahid Afridi’s Asia Lions defeated India Maharajas by a score of 9 runs to win their first game. The Lions achieved 165 for 6 in the allocated 20 overs while batting first.

Misbah-ul-Haq, a former captain of Pakistan, played a magnificent innings of 73 to lead the assault with the bat for the Lions. His innings, which lasted 50 balls, had two fours and four sixes. Upul Tharanga, a former opener for Sri Lanka, also contributed significantly by scoring 40 runs to start the innings. Stuart Binny and Parvinder Awana, who each took two wickets, were the top bowlers for the India Maharajas.
India Maharajas’ innings in response was over when they were 156 for 8. The team’s captain, Gautam Gambhir, struck a valiant fifty to get them off to a strong start, but it wasn’t enough to win. Former Pakistani pacer Sohail Tanvir was the standout bowler for the Asia Lions, with 3 for 27.
