Australia National Cricket Team batter Steve Smith didn't have a great outing with the bat in the ongoing second ODI of the series against the England National Cricket Team. The second game of the five-match series between the teams is taking place at the Headingley in Leeds.
Australia have been asked to bat first in the second game and they didn't have a great start with the bat. They lost both the openers Travis Head (29) and Matthew Short (29) early. With the team in trouble, it was expected that Steve Smith would shine for his team and keep the innings moving forward.
But that wasn't the case, as Steve Smith was left clueless by the delivery from young Matthew Potts. The right-arm pacer came up with a brutal delivery and made many at the stadium stand and applaud him for his heroics with the ball.
Matthew Potts bowled a full delivery that was straight on off stump. Steve Smith was dragged into the drive, but he didn't have the balance, and the poise wasn't there as he walked into the shot. The ball grazed the inside edge and crashed into the off-stump to send the batter packing.

Smith couldn't make a bigger impact with the bat as he managed just 4 runs off 6 balls. With his wicket, the Australia National Cricket Team were left tottering at 89/3 in the 14 overs. The batter has been under the pump for a while and it was a great platform for him to regain his touch.
Smith had a decent outing in the first game as he scored 32 runs off 28 balls with the help of 3 sixes. He would now be hoping to make a mark in the next three ODIs help his team win the series, and gain confidence ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Coming to the ongoing match, after losing three quick wickets, Australia have made a comeback in the game. Skipper Mitchell Marsh has slammed a vital half-century while Marnus Labuschagne (17) supported him well before perishing to Jacob Bethell. The visitors would be hoping to post a big total on the board.
