Watch- Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rohit Paudel charge at each other; Umpires run in to separate the players

Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel got into a heated altercation with Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Sakib earlier today during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Group D match.

This was an obligatory fixture between Nepal and Bangladesh in what was both of their final Group stage match which took place at the Arnos Vale stadium. All the Group D matches have now come to an end with only two group matches yet to be played in the T20 World Cup. New Zealand will take on Papua New Guinea in Trinidad in the remaining two fixtures today. 

In the last Group stage match, co-hosts West Indies will go head-to-head against Afghanistan at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia. With the Super 8 seedings already decided, this particular fixture will decide which team is going to finish at the summit of Group C as both teams are currently undefeated in the tournament. 

Tanzim Sakib caught eyeballing Rohit Paudel 

Before we find out the Group C winners, an altercation between Nepal captain Rohit Paudel and Bangladesh's aggressive pacer Tanzim Sakib is making the news. Both of them were playing this match to sign the Group stages off in style. And for that reason, both of the teams were trying their best to get the win.

In the 2nd innings of the match during Nepal's run-chase of 107 runs, things took a heated turn between Rohit Paudel and Tanzim Sakib. The 3rd over had just finished and the Umpire had singalled the players to change the ends. That's when things popped off between Rohit and Sakib. 

Tanzim Sakib, who has a bowling average of 10 in this T20 World Cup, was seen eyeballing the Nepal captain who looked unaware at first. The Bangladeshi pacer kept moving towards Rohit Paudel instead of following the Umpire's call. Sakib was in absolute beast mode during the heated exchange and was also heard saying "What happened" to Paudel. 

The moment came when Tanzim Sakib and Rohit Paudel came face to face and started pointing fingers at one another. It was about to reach the boiling point when the on-field Umpire interrupted and dismissed both of them from the argument.

It was just the second team that both the teams were facing each other in an ICC T20 World Cup and it was nothing short of pure entertainment. During their previous meeting 10 years ago in the 2014 T20 WC in Bangladesh, Nepal had lost by 8 wickets but there wasn't any such argument. 

After eyeballing Paudel, Tanzim Sakib grabs the Man of the Match award

Following the altercation between Rohit Paudel and Tanzim Sakib, the latter had the last laugh. The right-arm seamer had an eventful evening as he even scalped a sensational 4-wicket haul at an outstanding economy rate of just 1.75. He first claimed the wicket of opener Kushal Bhurtel before grabbing the big fish Paudel for just 1 off 6. 

Tanzim Sakib's final two wickets were of Anil Kumar Sah and Sundeep Jora. The remaining wickets were taken by Mustafizur Rahman (3), Shakib Al Hasan (2), and Taskin Ahmed (1) with the Bangladeshis winning by 21 runs.
