Taskin Ahmed And Ravichandran Ashwin Incident
PC: X

Taskin Ahmed, on Thursday (September 19), once again showed why cricket is called a gentlemen's game as he came up with a brilliant gesture during the ongoing first India vs Bangladesh Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The incident took place during the third session when the Bangladesh pacer was bowling to veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Fast bowlers usually do not bowl bouncers to tailenders or lower-order batters. Even if they do, they usually bowl in such a manner that the lower-order players do not get hit.

As far as Ashwin is concerned, he is not a typical tailender and is more than a handy batsman. That might be one of the reasons why Taskin Ahmed decided to target the spinner with a vicious bouncer. The incident took place in the 49th over when the right-arm pacer was bowling to Ashwin.

On the fifth ball of the over, he bowled a bouncer that was well-directed towards Ashwin's helmet. The right-handed batsman was taken aback by the short delivery and took his eyes off the ball. Fortunately, the ball only hit the front part of the helmet before flying away towards the slip cordon.

As soon as the ball hit the helmet, Taskin Ahmed raised his hand to issue an apology to the veteran cricketer. The umpire was quick to check on Ashwin and fortunately, everything was fine. The physio came running out immediately as well but Ashwin was alright and the game resumed soon.

Watch as Taskin Ahmed apologizes to Ravichandran Ashwin:

Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja steady the ship:

Talking about the game, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have steadied the ship for India on the opening day of the first IND vs BAN Test. India were reeling at 144 for 6 at one stage when Ashwin and Jadeja joined hands. Both the players are well set and will be looking to bail India out of trouble. At the time of writing this report, the hosts were on 208/6 with Ashwin on 40 and Jadeja on 20.
