New Zealand were set a target of 250 runs by the Men In Blue. Chasing the target, the Black Caps were off to a cautious start as they avoided attacking the bowlers on a slow track.

Rachin Ravindra fell in the 4th over, but Will Young continued batting brilliantly. He was eventually cleaned up by Varun Chakravarthy in the 12th over.

Young clearly struggled against the Indian mystery spinner and he was unable to read his deliveries.

On the 3rd ball of the 12th over, Chakravarthy bowled a brilliant googly outside off-stump to Young, who couldn't read it and got a thick inside edge, leading to the ball making a mess of the stumps. Meanwhile, Will Young took a long walk back to the pavilion after scoring 22 runs off 35 balls, with 3 fours.

After the dismissal of openers, Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell stabilized the innings by showing a brilliant performance. Williamson, in particular, looked quite amazing and slammed a brilliant fifty.

How did New Zealand perform in their previous ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match?

New Zealand bagged a dominant five-wicket victory over Bangladesh in their previous ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash in Rawalpindi. With the win, they secured a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

After opting to bowl first, New Zealand's disciplined bowling attack kept Bangladesh in check, restricting them to 236/9 in 50 overs. Michael Bracewell was the star of the show, claiming 4/26 in his 10-over spell.

Other than Bracewell, Will O’Rourke (2/48), Kyle Jamieson (1/48), and Matt Henry (1/57) picked up the wickets and they were well supported by the fielders on the ground.

For Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto emerged as the top performer, scoring a patient 77 off 110 balls while Jaker Ali contributed with a decent 45 runs.

Chasing the target, New Zealand faced early blows as Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana reduced them to 15/2 inside four overs. However, Rachin Ravindra’s stunning 112 runs off 105 balls changed the game. He built a match-winning 129-run stand with Tom Latham (55) before Glenn Phillips (21*) and Bracewell (11*) guided the team home comfortably in 46.1 overs.
