Indian cricket team superstar Virat Kohli is currently playing for the Delhi cricket team in the ongoing final round of the group stage of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 against the Railways at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium on Thursday (January 30).

The former Indian skipper is playing his first Ranji game after 13 years, and Delhi fans were excited to see the local hero, and they started gathering in large numbers outside Arun Jaitley Stadium from the early morning. However, the real spectacle was to be seen on the field on the opening day.

Actually, an unexpectedly expected moment stole the spotlight on the opening day of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. A die-hard fan of Virat Kohli managed to breach the security and enter the field just to meet his idol.

The encaustic fan touched Kohli’s feet, but the security personnel reacted swiftly. As security swiftly intervened to escort the fan off the ground, Kohli displayed his classy yet humble side. The former Indian skipper gestured towards the security, signaling them not to let the fan in.

The heartwarming gesture highlights how Kohli respects his fans even in tense situations, as the packed Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium cheered for the iconic batter. Now, the photos and videos of the moment are going viral across the social media platform.

Virat Kohli's return sparks Chaos in Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match

Earlier, even before the start of the match, chaos broke out outside the stadium, leaving many fans injured. It is being said that outside Gate 16, people began pushing each other, resulting in a few fans falling near the entry gate and getting injured. Three fans were reportedly hurt in the incident, and a police motorcycle was damaged outside the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium.

However, the injured fans received immediate treatment from Delhi District and Cricket Association (DDCA) security personnel and police near the gate. A police officer was also reportedly injured while trying to control the crowd. Actually, the DDCA made entry free for Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy, and fans made the most of the opportunity to watch the batting icon in action.

Delhi bowlers put Railways on back foot

Speaking about the game, Delhi captain Ayush Badoni won the toss and invited Railways to bat first in front of the packed Kohli fans. Well, Railways had a poor start as half of the team was sent back to the pavilion for just 66 runs, with Siddhant Sharma and Money Grewal each taking two wickets for Delhi.

Except for Mohammad Saif, no other Railways batter could touch the 15-run mark against Delhi in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash. Saif was dismissed for just 24 runs off 54 balls. Notably, Delhi is currently at the 6th spot with 14 points from 6 games in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 Group D points table. Even if they beat Railways, they are unlikely to make it to the next round.
