Pakistan cricket team and the team management have been facing the fury of the fans and former cricketers after their first-round exit from the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat against the USA and then lost the close game to India in Group A.

However, the Men in Green managed to win their last Group A matches against Canada and Ireland, but the washout between the USA and the Irish side didn’t help their cause, as they were knocked out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. India and the USA qualified for the Super-8 stage from Group A.

After Pakistan’s disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, the skipper Babar Azam has been criticized heavily and even accused of match-fixing, while selector Wahab Riaz has been slammed for favoritism for the team’s overwhelming performance in the tournament.

Wahab Riaz laughs off calls for resignation amid criticism for Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2024 exit

Amid the social media uproar and heavy criticism, a video went viral on social media where Riaz was shamelessly laughing when he was possibly asked about the criticism they were facing for the team’s miserable performance in the tournament in the USA and Caribbean.

Actually, at the press conference, the Pakistan national selector was asked by a journalist about the calls for his resignation and the criticism he has been facing for biased team selection after the team’s ouster from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Before replying to his query, Riaz burst into laughter.

Now, the clip has been crazily going viral on social media, where fans have been slamming the former Test pacer for his insensitivity, especially when there is a lot of anger and disappointment among the Pakistani people over the team’s embarrassing performance in the tournament.

Wahab Riaz said in his response: “I have had a habit since childhood that people say bad things about me, and I have never felt bad about it. In fact, the day I am not being trolled, my day does not pass, and I am telling my family that I did not get any messages today.”

Watch Here Wahab Riaz’s shameless reaction:

PCB set to return to old selection committee structure

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PBC) is planning to return to its previous selection committee structure following the failed experiment of operating without a chief selector in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Previously, the PCB had operated with a three- or four-member national selection committee led by a chief selector but had opted for a panel of eight selectors, which also had Wahab Riaz, who himself had served as chief selector before the change.

On the other hand, Azam's reinstatement as Pakistan's white-ball captain stirred controversy, further complicated by Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim's unexpected returns from retirement.

Amir justified his comeback with solid performances during the T20 World Cup group stage, while Wasim received criticism for his inability to steer Pakistan to victory in the crucial matches.
