Yashasvi Jaiswal, on Tuesday (July 30), made a comical blunder on the field and it cost India four precious runs during the third T20I against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

The incident took place in the seventh over when leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was bowling to Kusal Mendis. The India spinner bowled one outside off and Mendis pulled the ball towards deep mid-wicket. It looked like a regulation save and not many would have expected that the ball would run away for a four.

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal ended up over-running and before he could correct his mistake, the ball was well out of his reach and had crossed the boundary cushions as well.

Talking about the game, Sri Lanka are very much in the driver's seat in the game. Chasing a modest total of 138 runs, the hosts were on 86 for 1 in the 13th over. Mendis was batting on 35 runs while Kusal Perera was unbeaten on 22.

Watch the mistake from Yashasvi Jaiswal:

Earlier in the game, India finished their innings on 137 for 9 after being asked to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal got going by hitting two quick fours but did not last long and was dismissed by Maheesh Theekshana in the second over.

In the third over, Chamindu Wickramasinghe dismissed Sanju Samson before Theekshana accounted for Rinku Singh in the fourth over. In the last over of the powerplay, India lost the wicket of their skipper Suryakumar Yadav as well to find themselves reeling at 30 for 4.

Shivam Dube did not last long either as Sri Lanka reduced India to 48 for 5. Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag then came up with crucial knocks, scoring 39 and 26 respectively to take India to the 100-run mark. However, both of them departed in the 16th over with Wanindu Hasaranga dismissing them.

After their departure, Washington Sundar's 25-run knock helped India post a 135-plus total. For Sri Lanka, Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets while Hasaranga claimed two wickets.
