WCPL 2024: Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders finalize squads

The squads of all the 3 teams for the upcoming Women???s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2024 have been finalized. Defending champions Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders will be fighting it out in the forthcoming season.

The draft for the squads took place on Tuesday (July 16). Before the draft, the three teams had shaped up their squad through retentions and pre-signings. Reigning champions Barbados Royals drafted in wicketkeeper Rashada Williams and batter Trishan Holder from their squad of last year.

They have also added allrounder Shabika Gajnabi, pacer Cherry Ann Fraser and batter Djenaba Joseph to their squad. All three players had plied their trade for Amazon Warriors in the last edition of the WCPL. Earlier, Barbados Royals had also signed up Sri Lanka star Chamari Athapaththu.

On the other hand, Amazon Warriors have drafted in former West Indies Under-19 captain Ashmini Munisar, spinners Sheneta Grimmond and Kaysia Schultz, allrounder Realeanna Grimmond, Nyia Latchman and seamer Kate Wilmott. Before the draft, the Amazon Warriors had roped in South Africa's Chloe Tryon and Australia's Erin Burns.

Trinbago Knight Riders have bolstered their squad by roping in India stars Shikhar Pandey and Jemimah Rodrigues and Australia pair Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen. In the draft, the Knight Riders drafted in Kyshona Knight, Anisa Mohammed, and Shunelle Sawh.

Meanwhile, WCPL 2024 will be played from August 21 to 29 this year. All the games will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. Each team will play against the other two teams twice before the top two teams qualify for the final.
