Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has heavily criticised Indian selectors decision to drop Hanuma Vihari from the Test squad for the New Zealand series and add him to India ‘A’ squad for the South Africa tour.
Test specialist Hanuma Vihari who last played for India in the match against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, was dropped from the home Test series against New Zealand. When the last time he played for India, he played a heroic knock and batted for close to three hours with a Grade 2 tear to help India draw the game.
Also, Hanuma Vihari so far hasn’t played a single Test match at home since making his debut in 2018. He has been only picked by the team for the overseas Test, and he has delivered good performances.
Hanuma Vihari, Poor Guy, He Did Well, He Has Been With Indian Cricket For A While – Ajay Jadeja
Meanwhile, during a discussion on Cricbuzz, Jadeja came down hard on the Indian selector and said that Vihari had done nothing wrong to lose his spot in the team.
“Vihari, poor guy. He did well. He has been with Indian cricket for a while, done well. What has he done wrong? Why should he go to India A tour, why can’t he play a Test match at home? Or don’t send him on A tour also.
“Somebody who has been with the team, now goes to India A tour and a new guy comes in. That’s messing with people’s minds,” Jadeja said.
Jadeja also predicted that the pitches during India vs New Zealand series will be turners, and India will dominate.
“ I don’t expect anything but turners that we have seen. Last few series at home, we have seen pitches that were not Test standard. New Zealand will be tested with their skills how to play spin. I have no doubt India will send them packing,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Test series between India and New Zealand will begin from November 25 in Kanpur. The second and last Test match of the series will be played on December 3 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
