PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja has made it very clear that if India doesn’t play Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan then they would not participate in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 India.

Earlier, BCCI Secretary & ACC (Asia Cricket Council) President Jay Shah had stated that the team won’t go to Pakistan and had said that the tournament would be played at a neutral venue.

Due to the off-field disputes, the fans would be worried as India & Pakistan rivalry is considered to be the greatest. Pakistan has been trying its best to bring back Cricket for its fans as the recent tours of the West Indies, South Africa, Australia & England have been quite successful.

Gautam Gambhir was having an interaction with ANI and was asked about the ongoing incident “This is the decision of BCCI and PCB. Whatever decision they take, they will take it together.” said Gautam Gambhir.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur gave a befitting reply to Ramiz Raja. “Wait for the right time. India is a major power in the world of sports & no country can overlook India,” said Anurag Thakur.

Stern Test for Pakistan

PCB would be hoping that BCCI changes its stance. Recently, Pakistan has also been awarded the 2025 Champions Trophy and if India refuses to play Asia Cup then it could impact the 2025 event massively.

BCCI President Jay Shah had said that the team requires government clearance for participating in any event; it looks unlikely that India will travel to Pakistan due to its relations.

In all this chaos, the fans would suffer as India & Pakistan are considered to be the two giants of World Cricket. Asia Cup 2023 is expected to be played in September and it would be interesting to see how things unfold. If we go with Ramiz Raja’s statements then it looks unlikely that PCB will participate in the marquee tournament 2023 World Cup
