The Indian batting coach Vikram Rathore mentioned that the team isn’t much concerned about Cheteshwar Pujara’s form after his dismissal for just eight runs in the first innings. India was off to an excellent start while batting on the second day of the World Test Championship final and the openers managed to get through the new ball without losing a wicket.

Pujara came to the crease after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, and he took more than 30 deliveries to get off the mark. However, he looked like he had got back his touch until Trent Boult bowled a beauty to dismiss him. Pujara couldn’t change the strike a lot more and he had to be left stranded at the crease which eventually came to an end.

Vikram Rathour Not Concerned About Pujara’s Form

Vikram Rathour said that Pujara’s dip in form is not a major concern and he still remains a good player. He explained that the pace is not a problem for him and it was evident in the way he batted until he was dismissed. He added that Pujara has a big role to play in the team and he will keep continuing it.

“We are not really concerned and he is a good player. I don’t think the pace is an issue with him. I don’t think that’s a problem he has. Even today he batted, he looked solid and he has a role to play in the team and I think he’s doing well,” Vikram Rathour said at a press conference after the end of the second day’s play on Pujara’s form.

Vikram Rathour Believes Pujara Will Get His Big Score Soon

Vikram Rathour was very confident that Pujara will get his big score soon as he has been getting a lot of half-centuries in the last two years and hasn’t been able to convert those into centuries. Pujara has scored 18 centuries so far in tests and he likes to play those long innings which will come soon.

“Today also, he played 50 oddballs. He just needs to convert those starts. It’s going to happen very soon,” Vikram Rathour added.
