Former Australian captain Aaron Finch disagreed with India skipper Rohit Sharma’s suggestion of playing a three-match series to decide the winner in the World Test Championship. Aaron Finch said that it will be a bit of a waste of time if all three matches are drawn in the finals.
The Men in Blue failed to win the title despite reaching the WTC final in the first two editions of the tournament. India suffered a 209-run loss against Australia at the Oval in London on Sunday, June 11. However, they won the Test matches in both home and away conditions in the cycle.

Aaron Finch said that it will be impossible to host three matches given the jam-packed international schedule for every team.
“I think it’s just the reality of the scheduling and the time constraints on fixtures at the moment,” Finch told sen.com.au.
“I’ve got no issues with it, I think if it’s drawn out over three Tests, what happens if a team gets annihilated? It becomes a bit of a waste of time. We all play sport for the wins and the losses… I don’t have any issue with it at all,” he added.

Following, India’s 209-run loss to Australia in the WTC final, Rohit Sharma said that a three-match series would give more “fair opportunities” to both teams in the WTC final.
“In a big event like this, you need to have fair opportunities to both the teams. You know, a three-match series would be nice, but it’s about finding that window where it can be fit in,” Rohit told reporters.
Following the victory against India, Australia became the first team to win ICC trophies in all three formats. The Australian team won the 50-over World Cup, the Champions Trophy, the T20 World Cup, and the WTC final. Notably, Finch was the captain of the T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2021.
