Renowned for his explosive batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dedicating considerable effort to sharpening his leg spin, and his commitment is about to pay off in a big way. His rapid development as a bowler will inject fresh energy into India's spin attack, offering a thrilling new dimension to their game.

Before the start of the India B vs India A Duleep Trophy 2024 match, the 22-year-old opener yet again admitted he is practicing a lot on his bowling and trying his best to improve his leg spin, as he was told to be ready to roll his arms when the need arises.

The left-hander, who could manage only 30 runs off 59 balls before falling to India’s Khaleel Ahmed in the tournament opener, also said that he really enjoys bowling and is keen to utilize his talent whenever his team needs his expertise.

Yashasvi Jaiswal said at the pre-match interaction on Jio Cinema: “I’m practicing a lot on my bowling, and I’m trying my best to improve my leg-spin. I really enjoy bowling.”

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal has described the experience of batting alongside Rohit as an "amazing experience," as it has provided him with invaluable insights into the game. Since debuting against the West Indies last year, Jaiswal and the Indian skipper have developed a strong opening partnership, amassing several century stands in their 16 Test innings together.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also admires Sharma's game management and deep understanding of the pitch. He believes that young players can gain significant knowledge from the senior Indian opener, particularly in adapting their batting techniques to different conditions, such as seam-friendly or turning tracks, and adjusting strategies in response to the loss of wickets.

He further noted, “You can learn from him things like adjusting your batting to seaming or turning tracks or changing your batting when a wicket or two fall.” Notably, Rohit and Yashasvi have added 980 runs as a pair at a staggering average of 61.25 in 16 Tests so far.

As the Indian opener completed a year in international cricket, he reflected on his growth and progress as a player. The left-hander feels he has developed a more understanding of his game. He is now better at assessing various match situations and adapting his approach to benefit the team.

Jaiswal signed off by saying, “Now, I can see a lot of scenarios and shift my game (accordingly) for the team and read the situations.”
