Actually, Yashasvi Jaiswal has achieved a rare milestone in his 30th Test match for India. With his 30th Test match in Galle, Jaiswal has become the third Indian player to play each of his first 30 Tests at different venues, joining an elite list that includes Sanjay Manjrekar and Sachin Tendulkar.
His journey in Test cricket has been quite remarkable. Since making his Test debut against the West Indies at Roseau in 2023, the left-handed batter has traveled across different parts of the world, and the interesting thing is that he has not even played two of his first 30 Tests at the same venue.

He has played 30 Test matches so far at Roseau, Port of Spain, Centurion, Cape Town, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, Dharamsala, Chennai, Kanpur, Bengaluru, Pune, Wankhede, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Leeds, Birmingham, Lord’s, Manchester, The Oval, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Eden Gardens, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, and now Galle.
This rare thing has put Jaiswal on the list of two former Indian cricketers. Sanjay Manjrekar played his first 33 Tests at 33 different venues, while legendary Sachin Tendulkar played his first 32 Tests at 32 different venues. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal had a good start but had to walk out after a miserable run-out in the ongoing first Test between India and Sri Lanka in Galle. KL Rahul hit the ball towards mid-on and tried to take a quick single. Sri Lankan fielder Keshara Nuwantha moved to his right to stop the run, but accidentally hit Jaiswal’s legs while doing so.
Jaiswal fell down and could not reach the other end quickly. Meanwhile, Rahul continued running without noticing what had happened. Both Indian batters ended up at the same end of the pitch. Rahul reached the crease first, so Jaiswal had to run back to the other end.
By the time Jaiswal tried to make his ground, it was too late, leaving both Rahul and Jaiswal disappointed. The opener returned to the dugout after scoring 32 runs off 37 balls laced with four boundaries against Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series opener in Galle.
Earlier, Indian captain Shubman Gill had won the toss and decided to bat first against Sri Lanka. He said the pitch looks good for batting and believes it is the right surface to put runs on the board.
