The Mumbaikar revealed that when Rohit shouts at him or others, it never feels negative. Jaiswal revealed that sometimes the Indian players get worried when Rohit doesn’t scold them.

Yashasvi Jaiswal said at the Agenda Aaj Tak Event: “Rohit bhaiya scolds us; he also loves us just as much. There is love in his scolding. In fact, if Rohit Bhai isn’t scolding you, there is a sense of unease as to what happened; why isn’t he scolding? Has he felt bad about my action? It feels like, is he upset with us? So even his scolding feels like affection & his love for all of us.”

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal came into the third and final ODI against South Africa under a lot of pressure. He had failed to score in the first two ODIs, and with Rohit and new captain Shubman Gill ahead of him in the ODI lineup, many felt he was slipping into the role of a backup opener.

But in Vishakhapatnam, the young left-hander turned everything around with one of the most important innings of his career. Jaiswal started his knock with clear nervousness. He had played several dot balls early, and the pressure of back-to-back failures was weighing on him.

But Rohit Sharma stood right beside him at the other end, guiding him through every moment. Yashasvi revealed that the former Indian captain Rohit kept talking to him, helping him focus on how to build his innings and reminding him to stay patient while taking more risks.

This understanding between the two openers turned into a massive breakthrough. Together, they built a powerful 155-run opening stand, which pushed South Africa out of the final ODI. After Rohit’s wicket, he added an unbeaten 116 runs in just 84 balls for the second wicket with Virat Kohli to guide the Men in Blue to a nine-wicket win over South Africa with 61 balls still left.

Jaiswal remained not out on a brilliant 116 from 121 balls and won the Player of the Match award for his match-winning century. He said of his stand with Rohit, “When I started my innings, I was nervous because I hadn’t scored runs in my previous two matches. During that inning, Rohit Bhai talked to me a lot. He kept explaining how I could play & what I could do.”

The youngster signed off by saying, “I was under pressure because I had played quite a few dot balls, and I also had to think about maintaining a good strike rate. That’s when Rohit Bhai told me, ‘You play calmly; I’ll take the risks.’ And you could see how big-hearted he was; he was taking most of the risks because he wanted me to settle in and keep playing.”
