'You Can't Blame One Captain'- Ravi Shastri Blasts Sourav Ganguly-Led BCCI For Stripping Off Virat Kohli As India's Captain

Former head coach Ravi Shastri shared his perspective on India’s losses in knockout matches of ICC tournaments, stating that it is unfair to single out one individual for not winning the trophy. Ravi Shastri emphasized that India performed well to reach the semifinals and finals of the ICC tournaments.
The Men in Blue won their last ICC Trophy way back in 2013, when the MS Dhoni-led team beat England in the Champions Trophy final. India failed to win a single title in the last 10 despite reaching the semi-finals and finals. They registered back-to-back losses in the World Test Championship (WTC) Finals.

You Need A Combined Effort – Ravi Shastri
In the interview with The Week, Ravi Shastri stressed the need for a collective effort from all players in the team in order to achieve success in ICC tournaments.
“I would not say that. I mean, these two teams that were playing [India and Australia] were the only two teams that had a chance to win all three World Cups. And it is not that we have been rolled over [at World Cups]. We have been in semi-finals, we have been in finals,” Shastri said.
“We have not got it because when you want to win the big one, you need a combined effort. You cannot blame one individual, one captain,” the former India head coach said.

You Need At Least Three 50s – Ravi Shastri
Ravi Shastri emphasized the importance of big knocks from the batters in knockout matches, highlighting the collective failure of India’s entire batting line-up against Australia in the WTC final.
“You need 100s in a World Cup, World Test Championship final. Then you have a good chance of setting it up for the bowlers and winning the trophy. If you do not get a 100, you need at least three 50s, whether it is Test, T20 or one-day cricket. If you have not done that, you do not deserve to win,” he concluded.
India will participate in the Asia Cup 2023 ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue will be one of the favourites to win the World Cup, which is scheduled to be played between October 5 and November 19 at home. The Rohit Sharma-led team will be hoping to end their ICC trophy drought.
