Virat Kohli may be the greatest of all time but Rohit Sharma has achieved three records in ODI cricket which the former hasn’t achieved yet. However, both are world-class batsmen and the Indian cricket team fans rely on them to score more runs at the top. Though the opposition has tried their best to stop them, they have always come out on top.

There has been an inflation in Rohit Sharma’s batting approach ever since he was promoted as an opening batsman. For sure, he qualifies as the world-class batsman considering the manner in which he switches gears by reading the game, accomplishing the equation that balances risk and reward.

It should be noted that no other batsman in the history of ODI cricket has essayed more than 1 double hundred and Rohit Sharma already has bludgeoned three of them. Rohit knows how to get those daddy hundreds. This sums up the essential Rohit Sharma for you!

With patience and perseverance, Rohit was able to score his maiden double century (209) against Australia in 2013 and his mind-boggling innings helped the hosts crush the visitors by 57 runs. Rohit’s terrific innings included 12 fours and 16 sixes.

Rohit proved that the first double century which he scored was no fluke as he scored yet another double hundred a year later when he smashed a staggering 264 against Sri Lanka in Kolkata, which is the highest individual score in ODI cricket. His innings included 33 fours and 9 sixes. India won the match by 153 runs.

He once again unleashed his true colours by chipping in with a third double hundred in 2017 when he single-handedly thrashed the Sri Lankan bowling attack in Punjab.

On the other side of the coin, Virat Kohli has not yet managed to score a double hundred in ODI cricket. Once he came close to achieving the feat against Pakistan as he got out on a well-made 183 in the Asia Cup in 2012.

It is quite fair to say that Rohit Sharma was the best batsman throughout the 2019 World Cup tournament. When he came out to bat, calmness was restored in the dressing room. The more he stayed at the crease, the more he posed a threat to the opposition. He stayed sublime and runs kept coming just like that.

He scored an aggregate of 648 runs at a massive average of 81. When he went about his business, he became only the second Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to score 600 runs in a single edition of the World Cup tournament.

On the contrary, the closest that Virat Kohli has come to this feat was when he essayed 558 runs against South Africa in the 2018 ODI series. The Indian captain averaged a colossal 186 in that series and crushed the South African bowling attack in the process.

Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer in history to have scored 5 centuries in a single edition of the World Cup and not even the great Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli achieved this feat. The flamboyant opening batsman scored a stunning 122* in the opening fixture of the World Cup against South Africa.

The dashing opener continued his batting prowess as he followed it up with a commendable 140 against arch-rivals Pakistan. He then scored three more hundreds in consecutive matches against the likes of England, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka respectively.

On the contrary, Virat Kohli has never managed to score more than 3 ODI hundreds in a single tournament. When India toured South Africa in the year 2018, Kohli smashed three centuries in the series.

In the same year, when West Indies toured India, Virat Kohli scored three consecutive hundreds in the initial three matches of the series.
