Bangladesh, like India, haven’t played a pink-ball Test match since the concept saw the light of the day in November 2015. With India being the biggest hub of cricket, the upcoming day-night Test can be an immediate success in the country.

We at Cricket Addictor will take a look at the four possible reasons why day-night Test cricket will be a big hit in India:

Favourable Playing Conditions

Cricketers from outside the continent have complained about extreme humid level and high temperatures while playing in sub-continent countries mainly India. They have resonated it as an excuse behind their poor outing against Indian teams.

Day-night Test matches will rule out playing in adverse conditions and making the game an even competition between both teams. The temperatures during the night will be on the cooler side and humidity level will also be a bit less.

Presence of More Spectators

India is a cricket-loving nation and for them, the game is kind of religion. They remain present in the stadiums in huge numbers to supports their favourites boys when they play against any oppositions across formats. However, it becomes difficult for them to attend matches during day times on weekdays.

With Test cricket on the verge of extinction, the day-night Test can pull more crowds in the stadium as the spectators will have the opportunity to attend the match after their office hours. With ICC trying several ways to save Test matches, BCCI’s decision will certainly serve the purpose to a limit.

Assistance to Fast Bowlers

The wickets in India have been a hub for the spinners and overseas teams often complaint about turning tracks in India. The away teams fail to match up to India’s greatness in producing spinners and have a poor record in Indian pitches.

With the pink ball assisting the fast bowlers more, the allegation of spinners dominating the game will rule out, making it an even competition. Although Indian fast bowlers have proved their ability on these conditions in the recently concluded series against South Africa.

The oppositions who play more in seam-friendly wickets will benefit from this and the crowds will witness an exciting competition.

Attractive to Younger Generations

The young generation, these days, are more inclined towards limited-overs cricket. Due to its result-oriented feature and limited time span, the young fans prefer to visit the stadium and watch white-ball cricket.

Moreover, with Test matches played during the day time, it is impossible for them to attend matches and watch it at home bunking school and colleges. So for a young country like India, the introduction of day-night Test will help BCCI extend their reach to followers of all age groups which will be beneficial for the game.
