Often, players who are associated with cricket, after hanging up their boots try to stay connected with the sport in some or other way. While some turn to commentary, others try their hand in coaching. Some others become cricket experts and analyst, for tv channels.

However, in the digital age, there’s a new trend where cricketers after their retirement, try to stay connected with the fans through YouTube.

That’s right, in the present scenario, various former cricketers have their YouTube channels, through which they stay associated with the gentleman’s game.

So, today we will be taking a look at some former cricketers who successfully run their YouTube channels nowadays:

5) Rashid Latif

Former Pakistani skipper and coach Rashid Latif after his retirement started a YouTube channel called ‘Caught Behind’. During his playing days, Latif represented Pakistan in 37 Test matches scoring 1381 runs in the process.

Moreover, in 166 ODI matches, the former right-handed batsman scored 1709 runs before calling time on his career. After retirement, the Pakistani players do not get a crack at board level posts, so many former players opt to become YouTubers to stay connected to the sport.

At present, Latif’s youtube channel has 53 thousand subscribers. He also invites some of his former colleagues such as Waqar Younis and Shoiab Akhtar on his channel, from time to time.

4) Inzamam-Ul-Haq

Former selector of the Pakistan national team Inzamam-Ul-Haq has also become a YouTuber nowadays. He had to leave his post after Pakistan bowed out of the ODI World Cup 2019 having failed to qualify for the semifinal.

So from there onwards began the journey of Inzaman’s youtube channel Inzamam-ul-Haq – The Match Winner.

In little more than a year, the 50-year-old’s channel has acquired more than 113 thousand subscribers on YouTube.

Talking about his playing days, Inzamam played 120 Test matches for Pakistan and scored 8830 runs with the bat.

In ODI cricket, the right-handed batsman took part in 378 matches and added 11739 runs to his name.

3) Danish Kaneria

Yet another Pakistani player who started his own YouTube channel Danish Kaneria has a unique feat to his name, he is the first Hindu to play for the Pakitan national team. The former leg spinner played 61 Test matches in his career, scalping 261 wickets.

Moreover, the 39-year-old also earned 19 ODI caps, and he also picked up 15 wickets for the national side. His YouTube channel Danish Kaneria 261, was an unknown commodity before Shoaib Akhtar gave a controversial statement about Danish.

After that incident, the former right-arm bowler became a renowned Youtuber overnight as fans flocked to his channel to know more about the controversy. Right now, Danish has more than 230 thousand subscribers on his channel.

2) Akash Chopra

From a flop cricketer to commentator and a successful YouTuber Akash Chopra’s fortunes turned around very quickly. He is one of the mainstays in India’s commentary team in Hindi. Chopra started a YouTube channel by his name some time ago.

Today the 42-year-old has more than 1.58 million subscribers on his channel. Chopra regularly updates his channel with cricket-related content.

Talking about his playing career, the right-handed batsman played just 1o matches for Team India scoring 437 runs overall.

After an underwhelming career, Chopra turned to commentary and has found success as a YouTuber as well. He is among the highest-earning former cricketers all thanks to his youtube channel.

Arguably one of the greatest fast bowlers in Pakistan’s illustrious cricket history, Shoaib Akhtar has carved out a successful career with his YouTube channel as well. Such is his fan following that more than 2.06 million subscribers follow Akhtar on YouTube.

The channel goes by his name, was started before the 2019 ODI World Cup. Since then, Akhtar has found massive success on the online video sharing platform.

On his channel, the 44-year-old analyses cricket matches as an expert.

Having made 46 Test appearances and as the owner of 163 ODI caps for Pakistan, Akhtar surely knows a thing or two about cricket. After an incredibly successful bowling career, Shoaib Akhtar is one of the highest-earning former cricketers, all because of youtube.
