Though cricket is called a gentleman sport, just like any other, it has its errors as well. Few of the world-class cricketers walked in a wrong path in search of easy money but ended up having a negative page in their biography.

Coming to the topic, here we have listed the 5 world-class international cricketers who were put behind the bars for various reasons. Here are they:

5. Rubel Hossain:

The Bangladesh fast bowler, Rubel Hossain finds a place in the list. He has always been passionate for his country while delivering the ball but unfortunately found himself in a soup after engaging in a relationship.

Rubel Hossain has been put under the custody after his longtime-girlfriend gave a complaint on him for raping her. The lady said that the cricketer broke his promise of marrying her and instead, assaulted her.

Following the complaint, the bowler has been put behind the bars by the Bangladesh police ahead of the ICC World Cup 2015 in Australia. However, the respective board saved the cricketer from further proceedings.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board asked the higher officials to release the player on grounds of the “national interest”. However, later, Rubel’s girlfriend took back the complaint from the policemen.

Despite heading into the World Cup on the back of a shameful incident, he performed exceptionally to push Bangladesh to quarter-finals of the grand event.

4. Wasim Akram:

The legendary Pakistani cricketer, Wasim Akram also one of the few cricketers to see the inner part of a prison. The incident took place during his playing days when he toured West Indies in 1993.

It was an unfortunate incident for Wasim Akram alongside his thick friends Mushtaq Ahmed, Waqar Younis and Aqib Javed. It took place when all of them went for a jog on the sidelines of the beach.

All the cricketers Akram along with Waqar Younis, Aqib Javed and Mushtaq Ahmed were arrested on the beach for possessing an illegal drug, which was thought to be marijuana.

Though the policemen too thought it was a marijuana, the precautionary sample checking test resulted in an ingredient close to an illegal drug. However, all of them have been out of the jail with a bail.

Later, witnesses said the arrest was made by an off-duty policeman jogging on the beach. According to the policemen, no drugs were found on the players or anyone in their company previously.

3. Shanthakumaran Sreesanth:

The biggest controversy in Indian cricket. Involvement of Sreesanth alongside few domestic cricketers in the spot-fixing shattered his life. In a period of a week, the world-class bowler turned into a culprit.

It took place when Sreesanth was featuring Rajasthan Royals under the watchful eyes of Rahul Dravid. The reports suggest that he was accepted to leak 14 or more runs in an over when he bowls them over with a towel in his tummy.

The Kerala lad went through a lot of criticism from the fans and also came across his photographs being burnt in the stadiums. However, Sreesanth never accepted the charges on him.

Though Sreesanth fought hard against the judgement, he was always overlooked by BCCI who cited zero tolerance policy. Sreesanth moved to the apex court to get a judgement in his favour and was succeeded as well.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India continued to be the villain to him. The respective board never tried to relax the rules for the Kerala Pacer who slowly moved his feet towards film industry.

2. Ben Stokes:
