Mumbai Indians’ batsman Suryakumar Yadav is rapidly building his stature as a vital cog of the defending champions’ line-up. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored with 53 along with Quinton De Kock against Delhi Capitals as Mumbai Indians surged to the top of the table. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has thrown his weight behind the right-handed batsman to play for India this year.
Mumbai Indians endured a slow start in their pursuit of 163 against Delhi Capitals in Abu Dhabi as their strong bowling attack kept the defending champions on their toes. After Quinton De Kock perished for 53, Suryakumar Yadav kept the runs coming in the form of boundaries. Towards the end, Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard held the nerve to drive the four-time champions over the line and reclaim the top spot.
Aakash Chopra remains confident that Suryakumar Yadav will play for India before 2020 comes to a close. Aakash added that the belief stems from the bottom of his heart and he hopes to witness the same.
“I am saying that before the end of 2020, he will be a part of the Indian team and I feel he will also play matches for the Indian team. This is a voice that is coming from my heart for this player and hopefully that happens,” Aakash told in his Youtube channel.

The 42-year old further stated that the Mumbai-born batsman was the game-changer against Delhi Capitals, mainly due to his outrageous range of shots. Aakash recalled the six the 30-year old flicked off Kagiso Rabada’s bowling that sailed over fine leg. Hence, that gave him more confidence that Yadav should soon play for India.
“I feel Suryakumar Yadav was the gamechanger in the match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. The manner in which he is batting, whether you see his shots over the covers or his flicks or his cut shots. The icing on the cake with cherry on top was the flick he played of Rabada’s bowling for a six. My jaw dropped after watching that six. I said that this player should play for India,” he added.
