Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), in August last year, had imposed a ban on Mohammad Shahzad, for breaching the code of conduct. While the details of the breach were not made public, Shahzad went as far as saying that it was a conspiracy against him.

After announcing the ban, the ACB had replaced Shahzad midway through the 2019 ODI World Cup owing to a knee injury. Although, the player himself called out the board on social media, whilst declaring himself fit.

After such drama, the wicket-keeper batsman was suspended indefinitely.

However, now, the ACB has lifted their ‘playing’ ban on Shahzad, after accepting his mercy plea. The news was announced via Twitter, albeit the keeper’s contract ban will continue until August 2020.

Mohammad Shahzad’s playing ban uplifted by ACB:

Earlier last year, Shahzad turned rebel and took on the prime cricketing body of Afghanistan in a social media post.

“I still don’t know why I was ruled unfit when I was fit enough to play. Some people on the board (ACB) have conspired against me. Only manager, doctor and the captain knew that I was going to be replaced. Even the coach (Phil Simmons) found out much later. It was heart-breaking,” the experienced Shahzad had said as quoted by Business Standard.

The matter seems to have resolves quickly, as both parties know its in their best interest to work cohesively.

After seeing his playing ban revoked, the 33-year-old will look to force his way into the Afghanistan team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia due to being held in October.
