The champions of the Big Bash League (BBL), Adelaide Strikers, decided to renew Afghan sensation Rashid Khan’s contract for the forthcoming edition. Billy Stanlake and Michael Neser also managed to renew their contracts for the next three seasons.

Things have only gone up for the teenage sensation from Afghanistan since he was bagged by Sunrisers’ last year in the IPL. Rashid went on to represent in all major leagues in franchise cricket including BBL, CPL, PSL, and BPL.

For the Strikers’ this season, Rashid went on to scalp 18 wickets in the competition at an exceptional economy of 5.64. Rashid’s economy was best of the lot in the competition with a threshold of over four overs.

In the Player of the Tournament voting conducted by Big Bash League, Rashid Khan finished on top of the table. It was only recently that the Afghan teenage prodigy became the youngest ever to occupy the numero uno status in both ICC ODI and T20I rankings.

The other players who re-committed to South Australian franchise for another season are Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, and Liam O’Connor. Brother of Ashton Agar, Wes Agar will feature in the side for another couple of seasons.

Stanlake rising through the ranks this season

With his staggering performance in the Big Bash League, 23-year old Billy Stanlake received his Australian cap in the recently concluded Trans-Tasman T20 Triangular Series. Australia remained unbeaten in the tournament as Stanlake went on to clinch eight wickets overall.

Stanlake registered the 150 kmph mark at ease during the BBL and Trans Tasman tournament. The towering bowler brought menace in opposition’s camp with 11 wickets in the tournament from the ten games played.
