Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja disclosed a surprising fact about Sachin Tendulkar. The cricketing world isn’t any oblivious to Sachin Tendulkar’s numbers with the bat and his longevity. The 47-year-old is the leading run-getter in both Test and ODI cricket while also being the most-capped player in both the formats.

Nevertheless, Sachin’s numbers with the ball aren’t any less impressive for a top-order batsman. Across formats, the Master Blaster picked up 201 wickets with four four-wicket hauls and two fifers in 463 ODIs. He could bowl both off-spin as well as leg-spin.

Ajay Jadeja involved himself in a conversation with Gaurav Kapur on the latter’s show 22 yards and opined that Sachin Tendulkar’s son might not find it smooth to make a name for himself in cricket. Arjun would always be recognized as his father’s son. However, Jadeja detected a silver lining in the fact that Arjun Tendulkar enjoys bowling more, unlike his father.

The 49-year old confidently stated that Sachin would have loved to become the fastest bowler in the world, but he could not do and hence he mastered himself in batting.

Same thing would be happening to Arjun now. Wherever he must be playing, they would be saying he is Tendulkar’s son. And it not easy, luckily he does not enjoy batting as much as his father and bowls instead.

Father would have loved to be the fastest bowler in the world. Just that, he couldn’t do it. So, he found another way, he started batting. That’s what this sport allows you to do.”

Ajay Jadeja went on to claim that some of the greatest players began their careers as fast bowlers. Jadeja believes that every youngster ramps up the pace and witness the ball reach rapidly on to the batsmen due to which they desire to become pacers early in their career.

The greatest players, two you have named, let me add a few more – Anil Kumble, Ranjitsinhji – they also started off as fast bowlers. I think any kid, whatever success they may have enjoyed at international would have started in their homes as a fast bowler. Because the pleasure of bowling a fast ball gets the passion ignited. Every human wants to bowl fast,” he said.
