Team India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane still harbours the hope of playing One-Day cricket. The Test regular, who has failed to seal his spot in the fifty-overs format, is hopeful to make a comeback if he can score runs consistently.

Meanwhile, Rahane is currently gearing up for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting from November 14. The Mumbai-born cricketer has been in good form in recent time with the bat. In the series against South Africa, Ajinkya Rahane brought his first century at home after almost three years.

As he looks to keep up his form and shoulder more responsibilities in the middle-order, the fine batsman is still far away from giving up on his ODI careers. Rahane feels if he can contribute to the cause of the team, the selectors will consider him for the ODI set-up as well. His last ODI game was against South Africa in 2018.

“I just need to play well in the Test matches, keep scoring runs and I am confident that I will be back in the ODI side. It is all about self-belief and being confident. Staying in the present will help me, if I contribute to the side`s cause in Tests, I am sure I will be back in the ODI squad,” Rahane told reporters in Indore.

Meanwhile, India will play their first-ever day-night Test when they host Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ajinkya Rahane seemed excited about the prospect of the game. They had two sessions with the pink-ball under Rahul Dravid at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. However, Rahane is still focusing on the first Test in Indore as India will look to secure another win and extend their lead in the ICC World Test Championship.

“At the NCA, we had two practice sessions with the pink ball. One during the day, and the other during the night. For me, it was exciting as playing with a pink ball is different altogether. Our goal was to see how the ball behaves. We had a word with Rahul Dravid as well, but right now the focus is on the Indore Test,” Rahane concluded.
