Of late, we are coming across the married couples doing exceptionally well in the game of cricket. We recently learned Marizanne Kapp, and Dane Van Niekerk, becoming the first pair to bat together in world cricket. Now, it is the turn of Australia’s Alyssa Healy and her husband Mitchell Starc to enter the record books.

Alyssa Healy, who has been brilliant with her willow had received the player of the tournament award for ICC Women’s World T20 2018. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc also received the same for his heroics in ICC World Cup 2015 for men in 50 overs.

Speaking of the achievement, Alyssa Healy quoted Lucky I got my golf bag so that I can put some extra stuff. The girls played beautifully tonight,” Healy said after receiving the player-of-the-tournament award.

“Really proud. A team effort. I’ve just really enjoyed the freedom at the top and play some fearless cricket. Looking forward to playing in the Big Bash and see if I can continue. Very special. We worked really hard to build on that culture. With the group’s that we’ve got there’s many more to come,” she said at the post-match presentation.

“(Winning World T20) 2010 is still my favourite, but this one might top it. It’s an amazing place to tour and the people here are really friendly. It’s a fun place to tour,” she added.

In 2015, Starc engaged to Alyssa Healy and they married on 15 April 2016. They are only the third married couple to play Test cricket as well. Earlier, Roger and Ruth Prideaux represented England in the 1950s and 1960s and Guy and Rasanjali de Alwis served Sri Lanka in the 1980s and 1990s.
