Sri Lankan Test captain Dinesh Chandimal will miss the forthcoming Asia Cup 2018. Dinesh Chandimal failed to recover from the finger injury and thus he needs more time to recuperate. In fact, Dinesh Chandimal was doubtful for the upcoming competition. Therefore, Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella is called as the replacement of Dinesh Chandimal.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s off-spinner Akila Dananjaya is also uncertain for the first two matches. Sri Lanka will begin their Asia Cup 2018 campaign against Bangladesh on 15 September whereas they will play their second match against Afghanistan on 17 September.

Sri Lanka will have to be at the top of their game.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka has recalled their veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga back into their squad. Malinga hasn’t been part of the national side as he was shown the exit doors after a dry run of form. However, Malinga’s experience can come in handy for the Angelo Mathews-led side.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is not in the best of forms in the 50-overs format. They haven’t won any limited overs series in the recent past as they lost against South Africa by 3-2 while playing at home.

However, Sri Lanka is one of the most successful sides in the Asia Cup folklore. They have won the tournament on five occasions and would like to repeat their success.

Angelo Mathews will like to lead the team with aplomb. The final of the Asia Cup will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 28 September.

Here is Sri Lanka’s squad for the Asia Cup.
