Team India has always been the best competitors in the game of cricket. The record itself speaks for their glorious ride in the International cricket. Coming to Asia Cups, they have got the stunning numbers in their kitty. Ahead of the Asia Cup 2018 final clash against Bangladesh, let’s look at their record in the tournament.
India won six out of nine finals in Asia Cup:
Dusting off the record books, we have found that the Indian team had reached finals for as many as nine times in the history of Asia Cups. Out of those nine, they successfully managed to win six times to lift the coveted trophy.
The Indian team was the champion right in the first edition of Asia Cup played in 1984. It took place in the UAE among Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India. However, team India convincingly won the tournament.

Then, it was in 1988 when they again took their championship title from Sri Lanka. India successfully defended the trophy for next couple of years to make it a hat-trick. They won in 1991 and 1995.
Following the hat-trick, it took four editions for Indians to get back their trophy. In between, Sri Lanka won thrice while Pakistan won it for the first time. However, again in 2010, the men in blue lifted the trophy under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. Once again, the Indian team lost their grip on the coveted trophy for a couple of occasions. During the phase, Pakistan and Sri Lanka bagged the title each time in 2012 and 2014.
However, MS Dhoni once again pulled up his socks to guide the team to victory in the 2016 Asia Cup. Meanwhile, that particular competition was played in the T20 format.

With a grand record, they are set to enter the final of the Asia Cup 2018 against Bangladesh on September 28th at Dubai International Stadium.
