Pakistan left-hand pacer, Junaid Khan, is not jealous of Mohammad Amir but says they both try to compete with each other.
Moreover, Junaid also added they try to look at whose day it was. However, if Amir is having a good day, then Junaid tries to maintain his pace rather than attacking the batsman and vice versa. When both of them are having a good day, then they try to get wickets from both the end.
“It can’t be called jealously, we both compete against each other. Sometimes, we look at whose day it is. If Amir is having a good day, then I look to maintain rather than attack the batsman. I am getting a few wickets; then Amir tries to maintain and not attack too much. If both of us are doing well, then we try to get wickets from both ends,” Junaid Khan told ESPNCricinfo recently.
Furthermore, it becomes beneficial for the team when both the players are at their peak.
However, Junaid Khan follows what Amir tries to do. They share the bowling strategies during the match and put their effort in the best possible way that can improve their performance.
“When there is a balance between the bowling pair, it benefits the team and the individual as well. If Amir bowls well and gets a wicket, I also look to do the same. Nowadays, Amir and I share our bowling strategies during the match with each other, and that is helping us improve our performance,” he added.
However, Junaid Khan also said it was always good to start with the new ball and create more chances. It can be the main reason why the duo get more wickets when they bowl with the new ball.
“When you start with the new ball, you have more chances, just like when you open the batting, you have more chances. Amir and I get more wickets for this reason since we bowl with the new ball,” Junaid said.
