Australia’s all-rounder and vice-captain Mitchell Marsh has recovered from illness. Thus, Marsh is available for selection for the second One Day International against India in the ongoing series. Marsh was hospitalized with gastritis before the first game of the series. Subsequently, Ashton Turner was named as the replacement for Marsh. However, Turner didn’t get a chance in the playing XI.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to note whether Australia will change their winning combination. Australia’s other deputy Alex Carey confirmed the news that Marsh is fine and he is available for selection.

Marsh ready to be back.

Mitchell Marsh had received his chance in the final XI in the third Test match at Melbourne. However, he could not deliver the goods with either bat or ball.

“Mitch is good … he’s back fully fit and ready to go,” Carey said.

“He is going to have a bowl today and he will have a hit, so we will see how he pulls up.”

In fact, the chances of Mitchell Marsh playing in the second game are slim. The temperature is going to be 42 Degree Celsius on match day and thus Marsh might have to wait for his turn.

On the other hand, the middle order had done a good job for the Australian team. Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb had scored fifties where Usman Khawaja had also scored a half-century while batting at three.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell faced only five balls in the previous match. Thus, many believed that Maxwell was not utilised properly and should have been given his chance in the middle order as he can change the complexion of the game in a matter of overs.

“To have Glenn Maxwell sitting in the sheds ready to go with two, three overs to go, I think that’s a pretty powerful position for our cricket side to be in,” Carey said.

“He has had lots of opportunities up the top of the order before … you could argue the point he should be batting higher.

The second ODI will take place at Adelaide on January 15 and Australia will like to take the impregnable lead.
