The only concern for both the teams has been the third bowling option. In the first ODI, it was Khaleel Ahmed, who failed to deliver while in the second ODI, it was Mohammad Siraj, who was expensive. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar suggests India, go with Yuzvendra Chahal in the deciding ODI, as MCG is a big ground and also makes his voice on MS Dhoni’s knock.

India missed the services of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rested for the ODI series, after being toiled hard in the Test series. Replacing him, India called-up Siraj, who was unfortunate to catch the eyeballs in his debut game.

On 3rd Seamer:

Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar quoted that the only weak link in the Indian team is the option of a 3rd seamer. With both Siraj and Khaleel being expensive, Gavaskar feels that India might go with an extra-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal.

“The only problem in the bowling department in this series is India’s third pacer. In the first ODI, Khaleel Ahmed was expensive and in the second ODI Mohammed Siraj gave away too many runs. That is the only area of concern,” Gavaskar told Sports Tak.

“India’s batting is good, fielding is also good. Melbourne is a big ground, India may play only two seamers and three spinners. Yuzvendra Chahal can be given a chance in Melbourne,” he added.

On MS Dhoni:

Further, Sunil Gavaskar hailed the show by MS Dhoni in the second ODI of the game. He believes that MS Dhoni hasn’t looked like a player of his initial days but Sunil added that MS Dhoni proved that he has still goods in him to deliver for the team.

“When a senior player is not in good form then everyone is concerned. But the way MS Dhoni batted he showed that he still has it in him. Maybe not what he used to be with the bat but he proved he was no less efficient,” Gavaskar said.

However, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out in the third and final ODI. As Gavaskar said, India might try Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Siraj. There is a slight chance for Vijay Shankar making his debut if Chahal gets into the playing XI.
