Indian National Cricket team player Kuldeep Yadav made his presence felt immediately with a five-wicket haul in the fourth Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, Kuldeep struggled to find a place in the playing XI for the first three Test due to unfavourable conditions. And now, with Ravichandran Ashwin out due to injury, Kuldeep has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

The young left-arm leg-spinner returned with figures of 5 for 99 as the visitors rattled Australia for 300 runs to enforce a follow-on. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja also provided support with two wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah had to work hard for his lone wicket. This is the first time in the last 30 years that any country has enforced a follow-on on Australia at their home soil.

Kuldeep Yadav, despite being a regular customer in the limited-overs is yet to cement his place in the Test largely due to the presence of Ashwin and Jadeja. The experienced duo has been the go-to man for Virat Kohli in the longest formats of the game. However, Kuldeep has impressed in whatever limited opportunities he has got in his short Test career. Seeing the nature of the Sydney wicket, the management decided to field two spinners and Kuldeep Yadav has stood up to the call.

He added two more wickets to his overnight haul of three to finish with a five-wicket haul in his first-ever Test in Australia. He cleaned up the Australian tail removing Nathan Layon and Josh Hazlewood to bind the hosts for 300. Josh Hazlewood looked to be dangerous adding 42 runs for the last wicket with Mitchell Starc. Kuldeep Yadav had both of them trapped in front to become the first Indian to pick a five-wicket haul across the three formats.
