Team India routed the Windies in the second Test match in Hyderabad where Umesh Yadav bagged his maiden ten-wicket haul. Sunil Gavaskar, however, was left impressed with his bowling and stated getting six wickets on such tracks is an achievement in itself. However, the legendary batsman said he wants to see Umesh Yadav in the playing XI for the Adelaide Test.

Meanwhile, during the second Test, Umesh Yadav entered into the bowling attack as a lone pacer and had picked up wickets at a regular interval. The speedster proved what he is truly capable of during his man-of-the-match performance in Hyderabad. Earlier, he picked up his career-best six for 88 in the first innings and later bagged four for 45 runs in the second against the Windies.

However, the Indian bowlers rattled the batting line up of Windies on day three in quick time. Umesh Yadav picked up four wickets in the second essay, and the spinners took the rest. Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul chased down the target within the 17th over. The duo scored 33 runs respectively, and India won the match convincingly by ten wickets to sweep the series 2-0 on Sunday.

Later, Umesh Yadav was honoured with the Man of the Match award and the debutant Prithvi Shaw was rewarded with the Man of the Series award. Yadav returned with ten for 133 in the second Test match, and Shaw scored 237 runs in the series.

Moreover, Umesh Yadav became the third Indian pacer to register a ten-wicket haul in Test matches in India. Previously, the other two are Javagal Srinath 13 for 132 against Pakistan and Kapil Dev 11 for 146 against Pakistan.

Umesh is not included in India’s ODI squad against Windies

However, Gavaskar was of the opinion that Umesh Yadav needs to get more consistent with his deliveries. He feels the fast bowler can bag an equal number of wickets Down Under as well. However, India would now take on the Windies in the limited-overs series, with the ODIs scheduled to start on October 21st.
