Team India Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is the only Indian batsman who got out for the maximum number of times to the veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon from Australia. To be factually correct, the right-handed batsman got out seven times off Lyon’s delivery in the traditional format of the gentleman’s game.

Pujara struggled against wily customer Lyon:

Meanwhile, the top-order batsman Pujara has been the backbone of the Indian cricket team in the red-ball cricket. He had played some gutsy knocks which helped India to win many matches in the recent past.

In recent times in five-day format, he had cemented his position in the Indian cricket team. Pujara himself rates his Adelaide show as one of his best five knocks.

Moreover, Pujara also completed his 5,000 Test runs in the ongoing first Test of the four-match Test series against Australia.

Previously, he had failed to start the proceedings spectacularly in England earlier this year after having an average county season.

However, Pujara came back stronger with a stunning knock of 123 runs against Australia in the first essay of the first Test at Adelaide. However, it was visible that the 30-year-old couldn’t keep on going with his flow in front of one bowler; Lyon.

Previously, Ajinkya Rahane, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma got out on the bowling of Lyon–six times.

Pujara surpassed all the three Indians to top the unwanted list with seven times.

Ajinkya Rahane – 6

Ishant Sharma – 6

Virat Kohli – 6

However, in the ongoing Test match between India and Australia, Virat Kohli’s men posted 250 runs in the first innings, courtesy, Pujara’s brilliance with the willow. Moreover, the bowlers did some fantastic job to rattle the Australian batting line up as they could only post 235 runs to concede 15-run lead in the first innings.

At stumps, on day three, India managed to take a lead of 166 runs in the second essay with the loss of three wickets.

Pujara, who is batting (40*) along with Ajinkya Rahane (1*) will open the day four proceedings. They will try to get as many runs as possible. In addition, the visitors will be aiming to take a 1-0 lead against a weak-looking hosts Australia.
