Australian skipper, Steve Smith has named an unchanged XI from the last Ashes Test for the first Test against South Africa. Meanwhile, Australia will start their campaign in the Rainbow Nation from tomorrow when they take on the host for the first Test at Durban.

Australia is likely to field their menacing pace attack for the fifth time in Tests. However, vice-captain David Warner appears to have transitioned smoothly into Test match mode. Further, Warner led the T20 team to tri-series glory in the land of Black Caps.

I am terrible at judging wickets:

The run-machine Smith while talking to the Australian media admitted that they will field the same XI from the last Test against English. Further, he also admitted that he is terrible at judging wickets.

Looking at the (Kingsmead) wicket now a couple of days out, it looks like it could be quite slow, maybe not a great deal of carry,” Smith said. “But I’m terrible at judging wickets, so it’s just about summing it up when we’re out there and adapting to whatever we’re dealt and identifying it quickly and making sure we’re doing everything we need to do on our feet quickly,” Smith added.

Also, Smith stated that the first Test is always very important as it shapes the rest of the tour.

Small breaks do a world of good:

Meanwhile, Smith admitted that a little break has helped him to freshen up. He also said with the two-week break he and the frontline trio of quicks are all geared up for the exciting series.

I think a week or two (away) actually just does a world of good to anyone,” Smith said. “I know that when we landed here Starcy, for instance, was so happy the way the ball was coming out. He was swinging it and you could just see on their faces that they were a bit more refreshed and just ready to go,” Smith mentioned.

Smith admitted to getting drained after scoring tons of runs during the Ashes. Further, Smith hopes to come back well and lead the boys to a successful tour. In conclusion, Smith is excited about the series to kickstart.
