India cricketers have taken to their hometown to begin practice due to the epidemic situation in anticipation of the IPL 2020 in UAE. However, they have not been able to practice regularly, and under the supervision of coaches. Ahead of the IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), have found a major breakthrough as they have been given a clearance to practice in Chennai before departing for UAE.
The Chennai franchise has been given the clearance by Tamil Nadu State Government, according to a report in the Times of India, which said that the training camps can get underway from August 15.
CSK Captain MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla will fly into the city via chartered flights on August 14 to begin with the training session a day later. The franchise will depart for UAE on August 21.
“The players will not have to undergo a two-week quarantine period once they are in Chennai. They will be tested two days prior to coming to Chennai and provided they are Covid-negative, they will be flown in,” a source told Times of India.
Furthermore, the players on their arrival to the city will go straight to the team hotel and will not be allowed to meet anyone. The process will be followed during their six-day stay in Chennai before they head to UAE.
IPL 2020 will get underway from September 19 with its final being played on November 10. The lucrative tournament will be played for the second time in UAE. However, the fixtures are still to be confirmed, but it looks like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face off against Mumbai Indians in the inaugural contest.
Mumbai Indians, the four-time champions, will put their title on defense.
