Danish Kaneria has hit out at former Pakistan cricketers for meting out contrasting treatment to him and recently-retired Mohammad Amir. Several former Pakistan cricketers including Shoaib Akhtar have thrown their support behind Amir after the latter announced his retirement from international cricket on Thursday.

Amir had retired from Tests last year and recently decided to bring down curtains on his limited-overs career too. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Thursday released an official statement to confirm that Amir ‘has no desires or intensions of playing international cricket and as such, he should not be considered for future international matches’.

“Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Wasim Khan spoke with Mohammad Amir this afternoon following reports that the fast bowler had announced his retirement from international cricket.

“The 28-year-old confirmed to the PCB chief executive that he has no desires or intensions of playing international cricket and as such, he should not be considered for future international matches. This is a personal decision of Mohammad Amir, which the PCB respects, and as such, will not make any further comment on this matter at this stage,” the PCB stated.

Danish Kaneria slams ex-Pakistan cricketers:

As support poured in for Mohammad Amir, Danish Kaneria took to Twitter to share his frustration over the lack of support from himself. He pointed out how the former cricketers are supporting a ‘convicted’ cricketer but play the religion card in his case.

“Aamir blasted at the recent management of PCB for the treatment he is facing,Ex test cricketers and super stars of Pakistan supports a Convicted,When i request or says anything Iam said I play religion card, why I don’t get the same treatment Man shruggingMan shruggingDon’t have clue?Iam not convicted,” Danish Kaneria wrote.

Mohammad Amir indeed received a lot of backing from the PCB after his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal. He was drafted into the Pakistan team straightaway after he served his five year ban. Danish Kaneria, on the other hand, is still looking for some respite after being banned by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2012.
