Australian opening batsman David Warner is someone, who loves intense face-offs and confrontations in terms of cricketing as well as verbal. The little dynamite punches above his weight when the opposition targets him and circles around him specifically. According to David Warner, Indian captain Virat Kohli is precisely the same on this aspect.

Virat Kohli has had verbal clashes with plenty of Australian cricketers including Mitchell Johnson, David Warner, Steve Smith, and James Faulkner. While Kohli has enjoyed plenty of success against them, speedster Mitchell Johnson had the last laugh during the 2015 World Cup semi-final. That summer’s Test series witnessed violent on-field confrontations between Kohli and Johnson.

While the right-handed batsman scored a truckload of runs in Tests, the left-arm paceman dismissed him cheaply in the knockout game. David Warner stated that he relishes the battle of players having a go at him, especially when the crowd does it. Warner opines that Virat is identical in the sense that when the opposition provokes him, he brings out his best.

I thrive on the crowd, I thrive on people sort of going at me in the field. And getting into that battle. I think Virat is quite similar, if you go a little bit at Virat he comes out harder with the bat and he plays amazing. We have seen that time and time again. There is no point in actually trying to poke the bear because at the end of the day if you do that it just fires up the person a bit more.” the 33-year-old David Warner stated as quoted by India Today.

The explosive left-handed batsman is looking forward to India visiting the Australian shores for four Tests in a bid to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He admits that India beat Australia down under the previous time on the back of some terrific bowling performances hence they would like to return the favour this time. Australia would have the luxury of Steve Smith and David Warner for the upcoming series as they missed out on the previous occasion.

It’s a much-anticipated return to Australia for India. I am excited, one to be selected and to be a part of that. Last time we were not bad but were beaten by a good team and their bowling was relentless. Now, India has got the best batting line-up and our bowlers will like to target them.” the New South Wales born opined.
