Dhananjaya de Silva Aims to Seal His Spot as an an All-Rounder for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka will start their opening match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2018 at the Dubai International Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where promising Dhananjaya de Silva is looking to fix his spot as an all-rounder.

However, The Islanders are placed in Group B with Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

However, the 27-year-old all-rounder, de Silva sets his place in Asia Cup 2018 and seal his spot in Sri Lanka’s limited-overs set-up.

De Silva was left out of Sri Lanka’s One-day International plans after the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. However, he made a return in the series against South Africa where he played three ODIs, in which he impressed the management by scoring at an average of 41.33 and also took two wickets.

Moreover, de Silva said that there are some good teams in the Asia Cup. He also added that Afghanistan has some great players like Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Sri Lankan team has to play really well.

“There are some good sides (in the tournament), Especially Afghanistan, they have some big names like Rashid (Khan) and Mujeeb (Ur Rahman) and we have a big task ahead of us.” Dhananjaya de Silva said.

Furthermore, de Silva also added they have to execute their plan in a wise manner. Sri Lanka also needs to plan game by game to stay alive in the tournament.

“We have to go game by game and execute our plans in the middle throughout the tournament,” de Silva added.

Moreover, after playing with Bangladesh, Sri Lanka will face with Afghanistan. The top two teams from the group B will move to the top four.

However, each and every match is important for the team and they have to play cautiously.

Dhananjaya de Silva had played 20 ODIs for Sri Lanka, scoring 459 runs averaging 27. He only managed to pick six wickets for his team. His highest individual score was 84 runs.
