'Dropped' Nathan Lyon Still Hopeful Of Playing The World T20

Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon has failed to make it to the 14-member squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. However, the cricketer is no short of any confidence and hopes to feature in the ICC World T20 next year.

Lyon, who has been the greatest off-spinner has ever produced didn’t get any justification for his omission but that hasn’t deterred him from his goal. Similarly, Nathan Lyon was not a part of the 50-overs squad before the World Cup. But later on, he emerged as Australia’s main spinner in the competition. The five-time world champions went down to England in the semifinals.

Nathan Lyon, however, is ready for any kind of games and hopes to deliver the goods for his side. With his off-spin, he can be a handy customer in Australian wickets considering his success over the years.

“Definitely I want to put my hand up for all games of cricket, especially for Australia,” Lyon said. “Whatever game I play cricket for, I just need to make sure I’m doing my job and if I keep putting my hand up for selection, who knows where that may lead to,” he added.

Nathan Lyon, who last played T20I game in October 2018 against Pakistan admitted that he has no issue with the selectors after being dropped from the side. The cricketer also revealed that he enjoys a good relationship with Trevor Hohns, the chairman of selectors.

“He (Hohns) just called me and told me I wasn’t in,” he said. “But I had a really good chat to Cracker (Hohns) – I get along really well with him – so if I have any issues with Cracker, I’ll just pick up the phone. There’s no doubt. I have the absolute utmost respect for him so there’s no dramas there,” Lyon continued.

The 31-year-old Nathan Lyon, who will turn up for New South Wales later this week is also keen to join Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath in the club of 500 Test wickets.
