ENG vs IND 2018: 4th Test, Day 1 - Twitter Reacts as India Dominates the Morning Session at Southampton
Updated - 30 Aug 2018, 07:33 PM
Team India have started with a bang picking four wickets on the morning session of day one of the fourth Test against host England at the Ageas Bowl.
Meanwhile, the hosts didn’t have a great start as the lost two wickets after opting to bat first. They went in two changes while Virat Kohli, for the first time in his stint as skipper played the same XI.
Jasprit Bumrah was the first to strike as the English opener’s struggle continues. He trapped Keaton Jenning for a duck to taste the first blood for India. The poor form of the England opener’s continues as they once again failed to put up a good show. Bumrah continued his magical spell to trap Root, however, the umpire denied as Kohli went for the review.
The reply showed three reds, but Bumrah once again overstepped. This didn’t hurt much as Ishant Sharma caught the English skipper plumb to complete his 250th Test wicket. Joe Root appeals the decision but it is in vain as England lost one of their reviews.
Banking on the early confidence, India continued to ask questions with their brilliant display of fast bowling. England suffered a setback when Jonny Bairstow and veteran Alastair Cook tried to revive the English innings. Bumrah struck for the second time as Bairstow (6) edged one off Hardik Pandya as the host were reeling for 28 for 3.
England pinned all their hopes on their highest run-scorer in Test cricket, much to their dismay. Cook’s poor form with the bat continues as the raising speculation over his retirement will double.
Last match hero, Hardik Pandya once again proved why team India skipper holds high regard for this young all-rounder.
Jos Buttler (13*) and Ben Stokes (12*)see through the morning session as England went to lunch at 57 for four.
Here is how the Twitter reacted on the morning session of day one of the fourth Test between England and India at Southampton:

Different Team … Doesn’t matter … Whatever the situation … Bat 1st … Bat 2nd … Doesn’t matter … England find a way to be 30 for 3 !!!!!!! #ENGvIND

This is another excellent start from India. This is a fine pace combination and so, losing the toss isn't such a big deal. And a very fragile England top order is helping them.

Winning the toss on this pitch is an advantage….provided the batsmen respond to it appropriately. #EngvInd

Not keeping has clearly affected Bairstow's confidence. Give him back the gloves. Give everybody gloves. #ENGvIND
