ENG vs PAK 2018: Alastair Cook Equals Record for Featuring in the Most Number of Consecutive Tests

Former England captain, Alastair Cook equalled the record of featuring in the most number of consecutive Test matches, after starring in the first Test match against Pakistan at Lord’s.

Cook now has played 153 Test matches without a break for the Three Lions, equalling Allan Border’s record for Australia. Former Australian opener is third on the elite list of players who featured in the most number of consecutive Test matches.

Waugh represented the Kangaroos in 107 Test matches without any break in between, from the period of 1993-2002; while Border played 153 consecutive Test matches from 1979 through 1994.

Little Master, Sunil Gavaskar is next on the list, with 106 consecutive games for India during 1975-1987.

Retired Kiwi skipper, Brendon McCullum is placed fifth on this list with 101 consecutive games for New Zealand.

Pakistan, who are visiting the UK for a Test tour, started off their campaign against England on a perfect note on Day 1.

The likes of Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali dominated the morning session, as Pakistan ended with three wickets.

However, Pakistan bowlers could not dislodge Alastair Cook who was batting at 46 when lunch was taken on Day 1.

Stalwarts such as Dawid Malan and Joe Root fell victim to a brilliant spell of bowling from Hasan Ali. Whereas, Mohammad Abbas provided Pakistan with the early breakthrough with the wicket of Mark Stoneman.
