Former Australian chinaman spinner Brad Hogg believes English batsmen will struggle against promising wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the Test cricket. Kuldeep has already breathed down the neck of England batters in the limited-overs series.

Consequently, Kuldeep had scalped a five-wicket haul in the first Twenty20 International which had put England batsmen on the backfoot.

Furthermore, Kuldeep continued his love affair of hunting down the English batters as he took six wickets while giving away just 25 runs in the first One-Dayer at the Trent Bridge. In fact,  it was Kuldeep’s best figures in the 50-over format.

Kuldeep demolished English batting line-up:

It was a dominating performance from the chinaman as he continued to trouble the England batsmen.

Meanwhile, England batters are not able to pick Kuldeep Yadav in the white-ball form.

Hogg said while speaking to Sportskeeda, “I think they still have R Ashwin who has been good at the Test level. He went and played county cricket also to get used to the conditions, so you got to give him the first bite of the cherry. Kuldeep’s young, he’s a lot of learning to still do, he’s done well in the shorter formats of the game, so let’s not put that pressure on him to perform at the test level”.

“He bowled well in his first innings against Australia. So he’s had a good start to his career but let’s not get expectations too high for the youngster. If he’s playing Test cricket, I think it’s a good move and English batsmen will struggle against him as he has got the variations and he’s someone different. But he’s still going as a cricketer so that’s an upside for India”.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep is hopeful of a Test call before the five-match series against England. As the things stand smoothly now, the chinaman is looking good to break into the Test squad.

Given England’s Achilles Heel against the wrist spin, Kuldeep should be able to make the cut into the Test fold.

Furthermore, Hogg has observed Kuldeep’s growth from close corners. Hogg had played alongside Kuldeep Yadav in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

In conclusion, the former Australian spinner is well aware of the prowess of the young spinner.
