England Overtake Pakistan, Climb To The Third Spot In ICC Test Championship Points Table

England comprehensively won the third Test of the four-match series by an innings and 53 runs against South Africa at Port Elizabeth. After the victory, the English team has climbed to the third spot in the ICC Test Championship Points table. India and Australia are on the first and second position respectively. The Englishmen now have 86 points but are still way behind the leaders, India, who sit atop with 360 points.

This was England’s second win of the series. They had also won the second Test match of the series by 189 runs at Cape Town. Ollie Pope won the man of the match award for his brilliant knock of 135 runs in the first innings. South Africa will now have to win the fourth Test in order to salvage a series draw.

England At Number Three In Test Championship Rankings

After the win, England has climbed to the third spot in the ICC Test Championship Points table. They now have 86 points in the seven games that they have played. India tops the ranking chart with seven wins in seven games and 360 points. India is followed by Australia in the list with 296 points in 10 games.

England won the third Test of the four-match series by an innings and 53 runs. Batting first, England posted a huge total of 499/9-D on the score board with centuries from Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope. South Africa were bowled out for 209 runs in their first innings and England imposed the follow on. The Proteas had another poor batting display and were all out on 237 runs. The fourth and the final Test of the series will be played from 24th January at Johannesburg.
